Overview:
Grosvenor Contracts recently completed an extensive refurbishment project for Etheldred Care Home, transforming a total of 64 bedrooms over the course of four months. The project was completed in phases, delivering 16 fully furnished rooms per month, ensuring minimal disruption to the care home’s operations. The design and installation focused on providing both comfort and aesthetic appeal, using high-quality materials and attention to detail throughout the process.
Project Scope:
The refurbishment included the design, supply, and installation of:
Curtains
Pelmets
Bed Runners
Cushions
Voiles
Tracks
Curtain Accessories
This comprehensive approach was designed to ensure that each room not only met the practical needs of the residents but also provided a warm, homely atmosphere.
Materials & Design:
For this project, a selection of premium fabrics from Ashley Wilde was used. The variety of materials allowed for the creation of individual room designs that harmonised with the overall aesthetic of the care home, while also offering functional benefits such as durability and ease of maintenance. Each element, from the curtains to the cushions, was selected to enhance both the look and feel of the rooms, contributing to the overall comfort of the residents.
Installation:
The installation process was carefully scheduled to minimise disruption. With 16 bedrooms refurbished each month, the project team ensured that residents were temporarily relocated with minimal inconvenience. Grosvenor Contracts’ experienced team handled the on-site measurements, coordinated with care home management, and executed the installation to meet the strict timelines.
The tracks, curtain accessories, and voiles were precisely fitted, ensuring functionality and a smooth, aesthetically pleasing finish. Additionally, the pelmets and bed runners were custom-made to match the colour schemes of each room, adding a cohesive and luxurious feel to the design.
Key Challenges:
Maintaining Care Home Operations: The team worked closely with Etheldred Care Home’s management to ensure the refurbishment did not disrupt the day-to-day operations of the facility or impact the residents' comfort.
Multiple Fabric Coordination: The use of multiple fabrics required meticulous coordination between design, manufacturing, and installation teams to ensure consistency and high quality across all 64 rooms.
Adherence to Tight Schedules: With each phase requiring the refurbishment of 16 rooms per month, Grosvenor Contracts maintained strict adherence to the schedule to ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality standards.
Outcome:
The project was completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of both the care home management and residents. The newly refurbished rooms now offer a brighter, more inviting environment that enhances the quality of life for the residents while aligning with the care home’s overall vision for a welcoming, homely space.
Client Feedback:
Etheldred Care Home’s management expressed their satisfaction with the result, particularly highlighting Grosvenor Contracts’ attention to detail, quality of materials used, and professional approach in managing the project without disrupting care services.

This project underscores Grosvenor Contracts’ ability to deliver bespoke interior solutions tailored to the specific needs of care homes. The combination of thoughtful design, high-quality materials, and professional installation has resulted in a successful transformation of Etheldred Care Home’s bedrooms, providing enhanced comfort and aesthetics for residents.
