Overview:
Ellenor Hospice is a renowned care facility that offers compassionate palliative and end-of-life care for individuals and their families. As part of a recent renovation project, Grosvenor Contracts was brought in by Barnes Construction to improve the comfort, safety, and functionality of the hospice’s patient and staff areas by installing high-quality roller blinds.
The project involved installing 59 anti-ligature roller blinds (Yewdale product KR20), reprogramming electric Velux rooflight blinds, and installing additional manual Velux blinds and standard roller blinds for door vision panels.
The Challenge:
Ellenor Hospice required a window treatment solution that would not only enhance the aesthetics of their environment but also meet stringent safety requirements. With patients' well-being a top priority, the blinds had to:
Ensure privacy and light control
Be anti-ligature to prevent self-harm risks in vulnerable patient areas
Provide safe and easy operation for staff and visitors
Additionally, the project called for the reprogramming of electric Velux roof-light blinds and the installation of manual Velux blinds in multiple areas, requiring seamless coordination and technical precision.
The Solution:
Grosvenor Contracts worked closely with Barnes Construction and the team at Ellenor Hospice to deliver a solution that met their unique needs. We installed 59 Yewdale anti-ligature roller blinds (KR20), a product specifically designed for healthcare environments where patient safety is paramount. These blinds offer the following key benefits:
Anti-ligature design: Reduces the risk of harm to vulnerable patients.
Durability: Built to withstand the demands of a busy healthcare environment.
Enhanced privacy and light control: Ensures patients can rest comfortably without harsh lighting or lack of privacy.
In addition, we reprogrammed the electric Velux rooflight blinds, ensuring they operated smoothly and reliably, providing ease of use for staff. For other areas, we installed manual Velux blinds and standard roller blinds for door vision panels, giving staff the flexibility to control light and visibility in key areas while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
The Results:
Improved patient safety: The anti-ligature blinds provide a safer environment for vulnerable patients, reducing the risk of incidents while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
Enhanced comfort: The Velux rooflight blinds and standard roller blinds create a more comfortable and controlled environment for both patients and staff, helping to regulate natural light and ensure privacy.
Operational efficiency: The reprogramming of the electric blinds ensures smooth, hassle-free operation for staff, making it easier to manage light levels in various parts of the hospice.
Conclusion:
Grosvenor Contracts is proud to have been part of this important project at Ellenor Hospice, working alongside Barnes Construction to deliver tailored window treatment solutions that prioritize both safety and comfort. This installation showcases our ability to meet the specific needs of healthcare environments with high-quality, safe, and durable products.
